System Manager Help doesn't work - Bria
30-Jan-07 10:17:01
I posted this to Exchange Administration but I suppose this is the correct
forum. I received a response there to upgrade the help system but I still get
errors.
My configuration is a new fully patched install of SBS 2003 R2 with Exchange
2003 SP2 and all help screens in the System Manager ("Exchange System
Manager.msc" Modified date is Tuesday, June 03, 2003, 1:03:46 AM) fail with
an error and offer to 1) Report to Microsoft then shutdown MMC, 2) Continue
and ignore errors for this session or 3) Continue and always ignore errors.
If I select to ignore the error I get 80040205 - an unexpected exception was
raised and System Manager closes and offers to send info to Microsoft.
The Report to Microsoft produces an error signature which varies depending
on which help button or menu is selected. Here are some examples:
AppName: exadmin.dll AppVer: 6.5.7638.1 ModName: mmc.exe
ModVer: 5.2.3790.2560 Offset: 00117f94
AppName: contentfilter.dll AppVer: 6.5.7638.1 AppStamp:430e739c
ModName: unknown ModVer: 0.0.0.0 ModStamp:00000000
fDebug: 0 Offset: 00000000
AppName: exadmin.dll AppVer: 6.5.7638.1 ModName: hhctrl.ocx
ModVer: 5.2.3790.2744 Offset: 00013368
AppName: popconfigsnap.dll AppVer: 5.2.2893.1 ModName: hhctrl.ocx
ModVer: 5.2.3790.2744 Offset: 00013368
Anyone run into this before or have suggestions on how to correct?
I thought I might be able to reinstall SP2 to correct but it won't let me
indicating an earlier version of IMF Filter is installed which must be
removed first. As far as I can see the IMF Filter is V2 as installed by SP2.
When I tried to uninstall Exchange it says I have to move all accounts (and I
suppose my 50 e-mail-enabled public folders) to another server first. I seem
to be in the twilight zone.

Found this reference suggesting uninstall of IE 7 would solve the problem:
http://groups.google.com/group/m ... 57#339b2e80ecce7cf0
It works!
Seems others are also having this problem:

Andy David {MVP} at the last link indicated Jan 8th that a hotfix would be
available soon but I couldn't find one available.
